my gender today (a poem for trans boys)
my gender today
and everyday
resembles not a man
but a boy
like peter pan,
forever young and paranoid
of those out there bent on breaking my gender
because they know
it doesn’t take much to break down
the mountain of confidence that I’ve been building since i was fifteen
and it brings me back to the vulnerable first stage of transitioning
my stability of gender blistering
...
give me a water bottle and a pen, and i'll turn it...
